The Opportunity
In 2023, Carlos had an accident that left him using a wheelchair. The family sold their home and spent nearly two years at his grandmother’s while a new house was designed and built from the ground up to accommodate his accessibility needs.
The plan was a split-level home in Valencia, Spain – Carlos on the upper floor with his own space and privacy, his parents below. The goal was for him to be close to his parents, but with the independence a 21-year-old needs. A lift connecting the two floors was essential to make it work. With the foundation already laid, a pit-based installation wasn’t an option.
The Solution
Through a recommendation, Carlos reached out to Aritco Spain, who proposed the Aritco HomeLift Access. At approximately 150 cm wide, the model allowed Carlos to enter from one side and exit from the other – ideal for wheelchair access – and required no pit. A clean white finish ensured it would sit naturally in the home, which was important as it was the first thing you saw when entering the front door.
Installation took just six days, a welcome contrast to the months of difficult construction work on the house that had come before.
The Result
The Aritco HomeLift Access has become a natural part of daily life for the whole family. Carlos moves between floors freely and quietly. His parents often don’t even notice him coming or going. They use it too, whether carrying things between levels or simply because it’s the easier choice.
Visitors always remark on it. The clean white design gives it an almost futuristic quality that feels modern and refined. But beyond aesthetics, it’s what the lift enables that matters most, allowing Carlos to navigate his new life as fully and freely as possible.
