Bringing Scandinavia Design to Melbourne at the Dezeen Awards 2026 Regional Showcase

We spoke with Sharon Qu, Account Manager at Aritco, about the brand's partnership with Dezeen, the events in Shanghai and Melbourne, and what Aritco is building toward in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2024, Aritco began a partnership with Dezeen, the architecture and design publication headquartered in London, with offices spanning from New York City to Shanghai and a global audience of architects, interior designers, and design-conscious homeowners. The collaboration was built around a shared interest in promoting thoughtful, design-led approaches to the home.

This year, Dezeen hosted two major events in the APAC region – most recently in Melbourne in May. We had the chance to speak with Sharon Qu, Account Manager at Aritco, to learn more about the events and why the Australian market is so important for Aritco.

Dezeen is one of the world's most influential architecture and design platforms. How did the partnership come about?

Aritco began collaborating with Dezeen in 2024, as part of our strategic effort to strengthen our brand presence within the design and architecture community –  in China initially, but with reach that extends around the world. The partnership came about through initial conversations at a design industry event, where both sides recognised a shared interest in promoting high-quality, sustainable, and space-efficient home lift solutions.

Our primary motivation was to align with a trusted, design-led media platform. Dezeen reaches architects, interior designers, and design-conscious consumers, and that felt like a perfect match. Through the collaboration, we aim to showcase how Aritco combines functionality with Scandinavian design, and to inspire specifiers, homeowners, and architects to think differently about vertical mobility in residential spaces.

How has this partnership been beneficial to both Aritco and Dezeen?

From our point of view, the partnership is genuinely mutual. Dezeen has access to a global, design-savvy audience. And we provide Dezeen with real-world examples of how design and sustainability can come together in a home lift which is one of a kind, and makes for compelling, relevant content for their readers. It is a good match.

There were events in both Shanghai and Melbourne this year. What was the atmosphere like?

In Shanghai in March, our CEO and colleagues from China represented Aritco, and more than 150 architects and designers attended. In Melbourne, we actually had even more participants. The energy in the room was incredible. The design community there is highly creative and deeply engaged. People were eager to learn who we are, what we offer, and what our products are about. You could feel the genuine curiosity. It was really rewarding to be there.

What was Aritco's role at the Melbourne event, and what was the key message?

Aritco was there as a sponsor, and our Chief Commercial Officer, Ida Lindvall, spoke at the event on behalf of the company. The key message was really an introduction, presenting Aritco as a global Scandinavian brand with a strong presence across Europe and Asia, and a growing one in Australia and New Zealand. We wanted people to know that we offer high-quality, beautifully designed home lifts that combine safety, functionality, and Scandinavian aesthetics, backed by reliable local service through our partners.

But we were not just there to present a product. We wanted to open a conversation and build bridges for future collaborations with the local design community. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

Australia has been a growing market for Aritco within APAC. What is driving that focus?

We have actually been doing business in Australia for the past 20 years, so it has always been a stable market for us. But in the past few years, Australia has become an increasingly exciting one. There is a growing appetite for design-led, space-saving solutions, and an ageing population that has made our product a genuine need. Space constraints in houses and apartments have become real considerations.

Melbourne in particular has a highly vibrant art and design culture, with architects and homeowners who are increasingly looking for products that combine functionality with aesthetics. That has created a strong alignment with how Aritco thinks about design, which is why Australia is a key market for our continued growth.

What makes Aritco the right home lift for the Australian market

I think it comes down to what the Australian market values, and that is reliability first, then design, then quality. Architects and users there want to know a product will perform before they are interested in anything else. The fact that we are leaders in design but also have the highest reliability and quality, and that we combine all of these things together, is not easy to do. That is what makes us special or unique in that market.

What is next for Aritco in Australia and across the region?

We would like to participate in more events like this in Australia. We have not finalised everything yet, but we are definitely excited to continue building on the momentum we have established. We are also exploring more opportunities to open dialogue with local architects and designers and are working now on strengthening those relationships. This is just the beginning.
