The opportunity
For the Pollock family in North Yorkshire, daily life was becoming increasingly difficult. Their daughter, Betsy, lives with cerebral palsy and faced significant mobility challenges at home. At just eight years old, she couldn’t move independently between floors. Her parents had to carry her up and down the stairs, which was becoming unsustainable as she grew older. The family initially considered moving to a single-level home, but the cost and emotional weight of leaving their home was daunting. They needed a solution that could improve Betsy’s quality of life without uprooting the family.
The lift
After exploring several options – including stair lifts or a costly addition to the ground floor – the family was introduced to A1 Access, who helped them see another path forward. Betsy’s mother, recovering from a hip operation, and her grandmother, who recently moved in to help, also use the lift daily.
