The opportunity
In Madrid, a family wanted to make their elegant four-story townhouse more practical while preserving its carefully considered style – a blend of Japandi calm with Mexican accents that feels both modern and personal. Moving between so many levels was already a challenge for carrying heavy loads and would only become harder for older family members in the future. With the house originally built to allow for a lift, they saw the chance to add one that could become part of their home’s character rather than a purely functional feature.

The lift
The family chose an Aritco HomeLift. And, reflecting their love of design, the family created their own custom DesignWall: an abstract aerial view of the Atlas Mountains, adding texture and movement while keeping a sense of calm. The lift was finished in a soft Champagne RAL 060 70 10 tone to harmonize with oak details and Italian-made doors. Because the house was planned with space for a lift, only minimal adjustments were needed during installation. The family also chose to keep the original white backing as well as a second custom DesignWall featuring the work of a famous classical artist, giving them the option to change the look over time.

The result
What began as a practical choice quickly became one of the home’s defining features. Visitors are drawn to the lift before anything else, often calling it a work of art in its own right. For the family, it brings both ease of movement and a sense of delight. The Aritco HomeLift blends naturally into the home’s design, proving that functionality can also carry beauty and meaning.
