Aritco want to thank all who visited us and participated at the Äntligen hemma fair in Kista, close to Stockholm the 22nd- 25th of April. We especially want to thank Globus and AJ hisskonsult for participating at the stand.
This was the first year it was held and it was a huge success and lot of traffic in our stand. There was a lot of families with children at the fair and our Aritco balloons where very popular.
The Äntligen hemma fair was a cooperation between TV4 (Swedish television channel 4) and Kistamässan and specialized for the private home market.
Aritco want to thank all who visited us and participated at the Nordbygg fair in Stockholm the 23rd - 26th of March. We especially want to thank Globus and AJ hisskonsult for participating at the stand.
The Nordbygg fair is specialized for builders and architects. Nordbygg 2010 had around 850 exhibitors and 59.322 visitors. The lift was really appreciated with its architect designed outfit.

Aritco's response to the New Machine Directive 2006/42/EC
1. Introduction
The New Machine Directive 2006/42/EC, published on the 9th of June 2006, is applicable from the 29th of December 2009, replacing the Machine Directive 98/37/EC without a transition period. This note broadly advises Aritco's Partners/customers of the background surrounding this event and Aritco's strategy in responding to the situation and invites comment.
2. Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
A lifting device with a maximum speed of 0.15 m/s is considered to be a machine and not a lift, and is therefore included in the new Machine Directive. Conventional lifts belong to the Lift Directive.
3. EN81- 41
A working group within the European Committee for Standardization, CEN/TC10/WG8, (on which Aritco is represented) has been drafting standard EN81- 41. This will be a Harmonized Standard which will ensure corresponding compliance with the new Machinery Directive. Unfortunately, this standard has not yet been published, hence in the short term Aritco together with the rest of the lifting platform industry, is obtaining type approval by a certified body to the new Machine Directive.
4. Aritco's product certification
As of today November 26, 2009, Aritco has certification for all of its products. Copies on the certificates will be sent out to partners and will also be published on the Aritco partner website. These certificates have been granted with respect to the new Machine Directive and the old. The modifications introduced will also ensure the conformity of our products EN81-41 when it is eventually published.
5. Product changes
The following changes have been introduced as a consequence of the introduction of the new directive:
a) One touch call controls at landings; this results from the requirement that movement of the platform by actuation of a landing control may only occur when it is at a landing and priority of control must be retained by those on the platform.
b) After entry to and exit from the space below the platform by say, servicing personnel, reactivation can only be initiated from the electrical cabinet: an additional safety measure.
c) Emergency electrical lowering can now be initiated from outside the shaft (electrical cabinet for the 4000-series).
d) Lifting Platforms with a travel of over 3 metres cannot now be supplied with half height doors at the upper landings.
e) Improved signage
f) A new specified maximum capacity has resulted in changes to capacities:
g) Two way communication Platform/exterior.
h) A single triangular key in place of multiple keys results in ease of operation and more simple procedures. In addition the opportunity has been taken to make other various improvements of a minor and major nature in response to customer feedback. These include: a) Improved fire alarm interface, programmable seek any floor by automatic run on activation of alarm. b) Addition sub panel in electrical cabinet which together with enhanced system control card give accessed to more and improved functions. See Figure below.
6. Product timescale
As of November 30, 2009, all lifts manufactured by Aritco factory will be certified as conforming to the new Machine Directive. This ensures that a transition period occurs before the implementation date of Dec 29, 2009. It is emphasized that Lifting Platforms "put to market" (i.e. installed and commissioned) have to conform to the new directive.
7. Customers Provisions
The main power in the building to the lifts must be protected by a residual current earth leakage detector. We are introducing a new improved routine for the signing of the declaration of conformity together with the establishment of authorized partners. There is a requirement for electrical outlet sockets at each floor level. Aritco consider these most economically provided by the customer and will therefore be listed in the Installation Manual.
8. Conversion kits
Lifts installed and commissioned after December 29, 2009 must conform to the new Directive - with no transition period. It means that lifts delivered before Nov 30, 2009, to be installed after Dec 29, 2009 must be to be converted to the new directive. Aritco will be offering a conversion kit to be launched in week 51, 2009. The price for this conversion kit will be released asap.
9. Conclusions
The result of all the changes we have made will manifest itself in improved market leading products leading in their cost effectiveness, performance, reliability and safety. We will of course continue with our pursuit of perfection and look forward to your continued cooperation in the future. Your comments will be appreciated.
